The rhetoric was muted about the possible censure of District 47 Board member Lea Grover at Monday night’s meeting.

Quite civil, in my opinion.

Not at all like the raucous recent Crystal Lake Park Board meetings, which sound more like a sporting event than a governmental meeting.

Stimulated by internet comments concerning Charlie Kirk’s assassination, Grover’s comments were considered inappropriate by some and a demonstration of free speech by others.

Grover was given the opportunity to speak first and, when a copy of her comments are provided, McHenry County Blog shall publish them, as will be some from those on the other side.

But, that will tomorrow or later.

Tonight, suffice is to say that the all-woman Board decided on a 5-1-1 vote not to consider censuring Grover.

Only Board member Emily Smith thought the writings of Grover were “disruptive” enough to warrant a censure or at least an admonition not to be so inflammatory in the future.
