Crystal Lake Police Investigate CCL Violation

Crystal Lake, IL – Crystal Lake Police responded to a report that involved a firearm being located on the playground of South Elementary School, 601 Golf Road, after school was no longer in session for the day.

The investigation revealed that while at the school playground on September 2nd at approximately 3:50 PM, George Kiska (45), a resident of Crystal Lake and valid CCL holder, dropped a firearm that was in his possession.

The firearm was located by a child that notified their parent about the weapon.

Mr. Kiska was still present at the playground with his child and retrieved the firearm from an adult when notified.

The investigation was reviewed by the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office and resulted in Mr. Kiska being cited for Unlawful Possession of a Firearm in a School Zone – 430 ILCS 66/65(12) and released.
