From the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District:

Woman Rescued from Kitchen Fire

On Tuesday, September 2, 2025, at 5:02 p.m., the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded to the 200 block of Sparrow Drive in Woodstock for a residential fire alarm.

While en route, dispatch advised crews that the homeowner was reporting an appliance fire in the kitchen that was getting larger and spreading.

A structure fire response was initiated, and upon confirmation of active fire conditions, the call was upgraded to a working fire response to bring additional units and resources to the scene.

A Woodstock Police officer arrived just prior to fire crews and rescued an adult woman, a wheelchair user, from the smoke-filled residence.

Firefighters then entered the home and quickly extinguished the fire, which had spread throughout the kitchen.

Paramedics evaluated the woman, who was primarily affected by smoke inhalation, and transported her by ambulance to a local hospital for further treatment.

Although the fire was contained to the kitchen, smoke damage was noted throughout the residence.

The house remains uninhabitable until repairs can be made, leaving two occupants seeking alternate accommodations.

The American Red Cross was requested to provide support for the displaced residents. No firefighter injuries were reported.

The fire remains under investigation by the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District.

In addition to this response, Woodstock units were dispatched to other incidents at the same time, including a vehicle crash at Route 120 and Queen Anne Road.

We greatly appreciate the coordination and support provided by our neighboring agencies who assisted with those additional calls and covered our stations, along with the Woodstock Police Department and our dispatchers during this peak in service calls.
