From the State’s Attorney:
DAVID R. GLASS SENTENCED TO SIX YEARS IN THE ILLINOIS DEPARTMENT OF CORRECTIONS FOR CHILD PORNOGRAPHY
McHenry County State’s Attorney Randi Freese announces that David R. Glass, 58, of Wonder Lake, Illinois, was sentenced to six years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for the offense of Child Pornography.

The sentence was handed down after Glass entered a negotiated plea of guilty to the charge before the Honorable Judge Mark R Gerhardt.
On June 25, 2025, Detective Prentice with the Woodstock Police Department was investigating the BitTorrent network for offenders sharing child pornography.
During the investigation, Det. Prentice, along with multiple other law enforcement agencies, was able to download child pornography by way of the BitTorrent network from a device at an IP address later learned to be Glass’s.
Over a period of a few days, Prentice’s computer connected with this suspect device through the BitTorrent network, and Prentice was able to download thousands of files, a majority of which were videos of young teenage girls.
Glass was later interviewed, during which time he admitted to using BitTorrent to download and share child pornography.
Upon release from custody, Glass will be placed on Mandatory Supervised Release for a period of between three years to natural life.
He will also be required to register as a Sex Offender for the remainder of his life.
State’s Attorney Freese would like to thank Detective Matthew Prentice with the Woodstock Police Department and former Detective Steven Skrodzki of the Algonquin Police Department for their thorough and detailed investigation.
“This case exemplifies how law enforcement is catching up on the technology being used by online predators, and in fact using it themselves to track down and identify the perpetrators that distribute this harmful material,” Freese stated.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney Maria Marek.
