From the Marengo Fire/Rescue Districts:
Crews Respond to Rollover and Second Crash Minutes Apart
.On August 11, 2025, at 4:11 p.m., the Marengo Fire & Rescue Districts and Union Fire Protection District responded to the intersection of Route 176 and North Union Road for a reported vehicle crash with entrapment.

Crews arrived a short time later and located a two-vehicle crash at the intersection.

Following the collision, one vehicle had overturned and was on its roof just north of the intersection, while the other came to a stop in a nearby farm field.

Both vehicles had sustained heavy damage, but fortunately, no extrication was needed.

Due to the initial number of reported patients, the incident was upgraded to a Working EMS Plan, prompting the response of additional ambulances from Marengo, Woodstock, Huntley, and Hampshire.
A total of four patients were transported to local hospitals with minor to moderate injuries, none considered life-threatening.

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the rollover crash.
Any additional questions regarding the investigation, including the cause of the crash, fault, seat belt use, or speeds, should be directed to their office.
While crews were operating at the scene, a second crash occurred at the intersection of Grant Highway (Route 20) and State Street (Route 23) involving a semi-truck and a sedan.

The Hampshire ambulance responding to the initial crash was diverted to this second incident, where three individuals were evaluated on scene but declined further medical treatment or transport to the hospital.
We thank all the responding agencies and their personnel for their assistance, as well as our dispatchers for coordinating resources during both incidents.
Crystal Lake and Woodstock Fire/Rescue Districts also assisted with change of quarters to provide coverage for additional calls.
