Wednesday, Crystal Lake’s Freedom of Information Officer Nick Hammonds wrote that my request for documents from the last year concerning HealthBridge–being pushed for purchase by the Crystal Lake Park District by Mayor Haig Haleblian–was too broad and requested I meet with him or call him.
So, I sent an email with a narrower request for “all texts, emails and written communications concerning HealthBridge between the Mayor and John Green within the last year.”
I received this automatic reply Thursday from FOIA Officer and Deputy City Manager Hammonds:
“I will be out of the office August 7th through the 11th. If you require immediate assistance, please contact City Hall at (815) 459-2020.”
I was given five days to call or meet with him or my FOI request would be considered closed and it seems that Hammonds would not be around for most of the time.
So, I made called that number (the city’s main number) and asked to speak to Crystal Lake’s City Manager (first time within memory).
He is Eric Helm, the former FOI Officer (a good one) and Assistant City Manager.
His assistant said he was in a meeting and asked if I would like to leave a message.
So, I did, complete with phone number.
No reply.
