From the Huntley Police:

Huntley Police Unveil New Patch

Huntley, IL – On August 5, 2025, during the Huntley Police Department’s National Night Out celebration, Chief Linda Hooten proudly revealed the department’s new police patch—a project nearly nine months in the making.

Developed primarily in-house, the patch design was a collaborative effort involving input from every level of the organization.

“I am incredibly proud of the new patch,” said Chief Hooten.

“The final design reflects the dedication, unity, and shared vision of our entire team.”

The design goes beyond aesthetics—it’s a visual representation of the department’s mission, values, and deep connection to the community.

One of the lead designers, Management Analyst Carly Ritter, captured the spirit of the new patch in a moving poem:

More than a police patch

You may see just a police patch.

Something officers wear on their shoulder to identify as law enforcement.

We see much more than that.

All you may see are buildings.

We see the makings of a village – the buildings that started Huntley and
created a community that this department has sworn to protect.

All you may see are American flags.

We see courage and freedom – and honoring the flag is honoring the men and women who died for it.

All you may see is a star.

We see the badge worn over our officers’ hearts symbolizing trust, service, and leadership – and behind that badge is an officer willing to show up in your time of need. Willing to face the unthinkable without a flinch to shield those behind them.

You may see just a police patch, but it’s so much more than that.

Remember, when you see these patches upon a Huntley Police Officer’s shoulder, it symbolizes this Police Department’s community history, values, mission, and hearts behind the badge.

Residents can now view the new patch on the Village of Huntley website, as well as on many squad cars and select officer uniforms.

Due to ongoing supply chain delays, full implementation across uniforms and equipment is expected to take another one to two months.

“While the look may be new,” notes Chief Hooten, “our commitment to safety, service, and community remains as strong as ever.”
