As I read the zoning usurpation of local control proposed of Governor JB Pritzker that’s a possibility.
What would stop a developer from buying a home on Crystal Lake or a lake in Turnberry or any lake for that matter, tearing down the house and building a four-story condo (with all units having a view of the water)?
This could happen in any neighborhood, if the bill passes.
When Lakewood was promoting a restaurant run by an unannounced “celebrity chef” living in Lakewood on the Village Hall property, I suggested that ownership of the land be retained, allowing a restaurant on the first floor with condos above.
Lakewood Village Hall and West End lakefront homes, any one of which could be a multi-story condo site.
Lakewood is perpetually short on money to fix streets, other projects and services.
Such a building would provide a steady source of income.
