Attempted Murder

In the evening hours of March 27, 2026, officers with the Huntley Police Department responded to a request for assistance.

Police responded to the residence in the 13200 block of Sierra Glen Rd. for follow-up investigations and located a male subject, identified as Juan A. Dela Cruz Lopez, hiding within the residence.

Dela Cruz Lopez was taken into custody without incident, and a knife was recovered from his person.

Further investigation determined that Dela Cruz Lopez entered the residence through an open garage door and was waiting to confront the homeowner upon his return to the home, with the intent to commit murder.

This was interrupted when the police arrived at the residence.

The investigation determined that this is an isolated incident, with no indication of a wider threat to the community.

Juan A Dela Cruz Lopez was charged with Attempted Murder (Class M Felony) and Residential Burglary (Class 1 Felony).

He was transported to the Kane County Jail pending a detention hearing.

This is still an active investigation, and no further details will be released at this time.
