From the Johnsburg Police:

Johnsburg Police Department:

Blue Envelope Program for Autism Awareness

In recognition of Autism Awareness Month this coming April, the Johnsburg Police Department is launching a program aimed at engaging in better communication with persons who have communication impairments.

If you or a family member struggle from a medically diagnosed communication impairment, and reside within the Village of Johnsburg, you may be eligible to participate in our “Blue Envelope” program.

The program is intended to help our Officers with maintaining a positive and productive encounter with a person who experiences communication impairments.

The program should provide a foundation for better communication along with reduced anxiety and fear that may result from encounters with Law Enforcement for those impacted with communication impairments.

Please reach out to Detective Dan HarveyCommander Rob Salazar, or Chief Jason Greenwald at 815-385-6024 for further details, and we will be happy to help explain and guide you through the process.
