State Rep. Martin McLaughlin Welcomes Homeschool Students and Families to State Capitol

Springfield, IL – On Thursday, State Representative Martin McLaughlin (R-Barrington Hills) joined fellow lawmakers in welcoming homeschool students and families to the State Capitol for their annual Homeschool Lobby Day.

McLaughlin spoke about the importance of protecting homeschooling and expanding educational opportunities for families across Illinois.

“One of my favorite days in Springfield is when our homeschool parents and families visit.

“The fundamental right to educate your children is paramount to freedom.

“Having a choice in how—and where—we educate our kids is something I will always stand up for”

McLaughlin has been a strong advocate for ensuring all students have access to a safe, high-quality education that best meets their individual needs.

McLaughlin also renewed his support for broader school choice initiatives and questioned why Governor J.B. Pritzker has not made use of the $300 million school choice program available to qualified families in Illinois.

“While we’re at it, why isn’t J.B. Pritzker utilizing the $300 million school choice program available to qualified families across Illinois?”

Rep. McLaughlin is encouraging lawmakers to recommit to policies that empower parents and give families greater flexibility in choosing the educational path that works best for their children.
