On the agenda of the March 16th meeting of the Algonquin Village Board appears the following:

“Consider a Resolution Authorizing the Village to Utilize the State Allocation of Motor Fuel Tax
Funds for 2026″

Think about why a municipality should have to play “Mother, may I?” to get permission to spend its share of the State Motor Fuel Tax.

Prior permission is not required for the spending of income tax money sent to cities and villages.

Why are municipalities less reliable in the spending of road money than they are of income tax money?
