From Marengo’s Cynthia Allen Schenk:

Republican voters attend candidate forums for one reason: to learn where the candidates stand on the issues that affect Illinois.

At several recent events in the governor’s race, Darren Bailey did not attend and instead sent his wife “Miss Cindy” to speak in his place.

Rather than addressing policy or outlining solutions for Illinois, much of the time was spent on personal stories that did not inform voters about the critical issues facing our state. Meemaw and Peepaw are not what attendees came to learn about.

Everyone has compassion for personal loss, and the tragedy their family experienced is heartbreaking.

However, candidate forums are meant to help voters evaluate

  • leadership,
  • ideas, and
  • plans for governing.

When the limited time available is not used for that purpose, it leaves attendees without the information they came to hear.

When speakers consistently cry it begins to seem planned and manipulative and thats uncomfortable for everyone and most likely not the intent.

In some cases, additional speaking time was taken beyond the allotted limits, creating an uneven playing field for the other candidates and causing the event to run overtime.

We saw this at several events, like the Whiteside Lincoln Day Dinner, where candidates spoke at 9:20 pm.

This is so difficult for candidates who may have worked 12-15 hours by then, who also have travelled long distances, and the guests who are tired and can’t focus on the presentations.

Republican voters deserve

  • fairness,
  • professionalism, and
  • clear answers about how candidates plan to lead Illinois.

This is one of the reasons I respect the approach of Ted Dabrowski.

At every forum he has attended, Ted has shown up prepared, stayed within the rules, and focused on what matters most: solutions for Illinois and respect for the voters who came to listen.

Leadership is about discipline, respect for others, and a clear vision for the future.

Illinois voters deserve nothing less.

Ted Dabrowski has consistently demonstrated his knowledge on all subjects related to the running of Illinois not just one county and his ability to win aganist Pritzker.

He is our only chance.

Vote TED.
