From McHenry County GOP Vice Chairman Kirk Donald, who is reportedly the only officer running for re-election for the 2026-28 term.

“Jeff Thorsen informed me that he was resigning as of 12:01 am Thursday morning (Mar.12) via text at 9:51 Wednesday night.

“I am the acting Chairman until a new Chairman is elected at the GOP County Convention on April 15, 2026.

“My first act as Chairman was to solicit sponsorship for the Lincoln Day Dinner on April 11. It’s important that we have strong sponsorship and attendance at the Dinner which is a major fundraiser for the County GOP.

“I ask anyone who is interested in making common sense common again, anyone who is concerned their personal liberties are being stripped away, and that they’re in danger of being taxed out of Illinois, to join us.

“if Wayne Smith is elected Chairman of the McHenry County GOP, and myself Vice Chairman, I promise you you’re going to see a revival in the Party.”

Here is Donald’s announcement of his candidacy for Vice Chairman, complete with reasons for running:
