Traffic Stop Leads to Recovery of Stolen Vehicle and Class X Drug Charge
Due to proactive patrol efforts, Huntley Police officers recovered a stolen vehicle and seized a significant amount of methamphetamine during a traffic stop.

On February 25, 2026, at approximately 1:30 p.m., officers located a Hyundai Sonata near Huntley Crossings and IL Route 47 that had previously been reported stolen out of Schaumburg.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and detained the driver, Robert William Mitchell, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
During an inventory search of the vehicle, officers found drug paraphernalia and more than 275 grams of
methamphetamine.
Robert William Mitchell was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine (Class X Felony) and Possession of a Stolen Vehicle (Class 2 Felony). He was transported to Kane County Jail pending a detention hearing.
This is still an active investigation, and no further details will be released at this time.
