From the Huntley Fire Protection District;
Residential Fire on Kathleen Avenue
On Monday, February 23, 2026, at 6:25 p.m., the Huntley Fire Protection District was dispatched to the 10600 block of Kathleen Avenue in Huntley for a reported house fire.

Firefighters arrived within minutes and observed heavy flames coming from the rear of a single-story residence located at the corner of Kathleen Avenue and Algonquin Road.

Crews immediately deployed hose lines to the rear of the home while other firefighters advanced a hose line inside the residence and began an interior search.

Firefighters made a quick and successful knock on the fire, extinguishing it within 15 minutes of arrival. Overhaul and investigations continued for an additional two hours.

The occupants were alerted by a passing citizen and escaped prior to firefighters’ arrival. No injuries were reported.
The home sustained heavy fire and water damage throughout and is considered uninhabitable. As a result of the fire, three adults have been displaced and are currently seeking assistance from family members.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Huntley Fire Protection District, and the District appreciates the assistance of the dispatchers during this incident.
