The Daily Herald found reasons not to endorse any candidate in the race to pick a Republican opponent to whoever wins the Democratic Party nomination.

After saying nice things about Pastor John Elleson, endorsed by the Chicago Tribune, the DH notes that because his son is a senior advisor to the Commerce Secretary, he may not be capable of exercising judgment independent of President Trump.

“Chicago software writer Paul Friedman impressed us with his thoughtful and reasonable views on the issues…but “his name is on the U.S. sex offender registry as a result of a since-expunged misdemeanor criminal sexual conduct case in Michigan in 1998.”

I am not sure whether the expungement law just passed by the Democrats would cover such an offense, but the concept is the same.

The Daily Herald finds IT consultant Mark Su “well intentioned,” but thinks he is not well-versed in the “issues…[nor has] “the personal skills to make him an engaging or effective candidate.”

The paper finds Rocio Cleveland guilty of “disruptive and unruly behavior in our candidate interview as well as on the campaign trail mak[ing] us wonder whether she aims to be a member of Congress or a stand-up comic.” Her unquestioning support of Trump reminded the Daily Herald of a “cult” member.
