From the McHenry Township Fire Protection District:
2500 Block Freedom Dr – McHenry Structure Fire
On February 14, 2026, at approximately 1:52 a.m., the McHenry Township Fire Protection District (MTFPD) responded to a reported structure fire in the 2500 block of N. Freedom Dr. in unincorporated McHenry County.

Crews arrived within 6 minutes and found a single-family dwelling with fire showing from the attic of an attached garage. McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputies were escorting three occupants out of the home upon arrival.
Crews immediately began an aggressive fire attack and searched the residence for any potential victims.
Firefighters held the fire to the attached garage and attic, with some smoke and water damage throughout the main living area.
No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.
Several dogs were also accounted for and unharmed in a fenced area of the property.
The MTFPD received assistance either on scene or at our fire stations from the Spring Grove, Fox Lake, Wonder Lake, Round Lake, Richmond, Cary, Crystal Lake, Nunda, Wauconda, and Antioch Fire Departments, along with the Salvation Army Canteen.
The fire is currently under investigation by the MTFPD.
