From the Huntley Fire Protection District:
Brush Fire Along Route 47
On Wednesday, February 11, 2026, at 11:47 a.m., the Huntley Fire Protection District was dispatched to the 8400 block of North Route 47 for a reported brush fire with a wood pile burning.
While crews were en route, the property owner advised dispatch that a shed, approximately 8 feet by 8 feet, was also on fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters located a large brush pile actively burning and what appeared to be the remains of a small plastic shed located roughly 50 feet off the roadway.

Crews deployed hose lines and began fire suppression operations.
Due to the extent of the fire and the presence of hidden fire within the wood piles and straw, additional water supplies were requested to the scene.

Although the bulk of the fire was brought under control within approximately 30 minutes, crews remained on scene for an additional 30 minutes pulling apart debris and extinguishing remaining hot spots to ensure the fire was fully out.
No injuries were reported.
The Huntley Fire Protection District reminds residents that brush fires can spread quickly, especially in dry or windy conditions.
Anyone conducting outdoor burning should ensure they have an adequate water supply readily available, check wind conditions before and during burning, and never leave a fire unattended.
All fires should be fully extinguished, with ashes and embers thoroughly soaked and cooled, before leaving the area.
Taking these precautions can help prevent small fires from turning into larger and more dangerous incidents.
