From McHenry County:
Regional Office of Education Seeking Sponsors for 2026 Scripps National Spelling Bee
WOODSTOCK, Ill. – The McHenry County Regional Office of Education is seeking generous, community-minded sponsors to help send the winner of the McHenry County Regional Spelling Bee to the 2026 Scripps National Spelling Bee.
This year’s McHenry County Regional Spelling Bee will take place at 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 18 at Bernotas Middle School, in Crystal Lake.
The champion of the local competition will represent McHenry County in the Scripps National Spelling Bee, which takes place May 26-28 at the DAR Constitution Hall in Washington, D.C.
“The McHenry County Regional Spelling Bee is so much more than a competition – participants take away an invaluable experience that instills confidence, the ability to perform under pressure, public speaking skills, and so much more,” Regional Superintendent Diana Hartmann said.
“And the champion wins the chance to represent McHenry County schools in the venerable Scripps National Spelling Bee against the best spellers in the nation.
We greatly appreciate the generosity of McHenry County’s residents and business community to help cover the costs to make this once-in-a-lifetime experience happen.”
Sponsors who are interested can contact Kim Walters at 815-334-3039, or at KDWalters@mchenrycountyil.gov.
