You may have noticed that on McHenry County Blog’s masthead is an image of a skier jumping in Fox River Grove at Norge.
It’s there because it the only well-know unique event/place in McHenry County.
This weekend is the time to view the event.
From McHenry Thrive:

| Speaking of bundling up, it looks like the weather’s going to cooperate for the 121st Annual Norge Annual Winter Ski Jump Tournament – the forecast weekend high of 20 degrees sounds positively balmy compared to the past few days. The tournament takes place this Saturday, Jan. 31, and Sunday, Feb. 1 at the Norge Ski Jump in Fox River Grove – talk about a great local preview before the 2026 Winter Olympics kicks off the following weekend in Milan! Admission buttons are available for $20 directly from the Norge website, or from local merchants, or at the gate for $25; children 12 and under get in free. The Norge Ski Jump, which opened in 1905, is the oldest operating jump in the nation – and there are a lot of traditions that come with it. As a reminder, visit the website of our good friends at Naturally McHenry County for a comprehensive rundown, from cowbells to Viking helmet selfies. |
