From the Northwestern Daily:

The GOP candidate who has gotten the most free press is Rocio Cleveland.

She is on the ballot with Paul Friedman, Mark Su and John Elleson.

Cleveland is a paraprofessional. She got her start in politics as Hispanic Outreach Coordinator for former Lake County Sheriff Mark Curran. She also worked on Curran’s Illinois Supreme Court campaign.

Friedman is a former software developer. When he was twenty-seven he admits that “his lips touched” a girl’s cheek for which he was charged with and “pleaded no contest to misdemeanor fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a 13-year-old girl at an Ann Arbor, Michigan shop he co-owned.< according to the Northwestern Daily.

Su is an IT consultant, living in Rogers Park. The Nonwestern reports,”He also runs his own media platform — Chinese-language site USCN News — which covers mostly Chicago-area and Illinois-focused news, often centering on the Chinese American community.” He has raised the most money, over $15,000 which is dwarfed by the candidates seeking the Democratic Party nomination.

Elleson has been a pastor at Lakewood Chapel in Arlington Heights for twenty–seven years and ran unsuccessfully against incumbent Democrat Jan Schakowsky in 2018. He taught English and American history in China after Tiananmen Square.

The Cook Report says the 9th District is nineteen more points than the country as a whole.

The Northwestern Daily article has pretty extensive information about issues the candidates are stressing.

If the Republican winner would be willing to concentrate his or fall campaign on Algonquin Township, there are several local political leaders who believe the positions on issues being taken by pretty much all of the Democratic Party hopefuls would be a hard sell in Algonquin Township.
