“A bill proposed in the Illinois state House would require children to complete kindergarten in order to proceed to the first grade in public schools.”
Unlike my well-adjusted younger sister, who attended a private kindergarten in Easton. Maryland, I did not.
The only thing I remember about her experience was watching going around May Pole.
Easton Elementary School didn’t have kindergarten.
Academically, I don’t think it mattered.
From a viewpoint world affairs, first grade was quite instructive.
Sometime during the year these two really big girls joined Miss Calahan’s class.
I found out they were displaced persons.
After a while, they moved across the hall to Miss Sullivan’s second grade classroom.
At some point they disappeared upstairs, presumably to attend third grade in their full immersion education.
