From the State’s Attorney:

COURT GRANTS STATE’S ATTORNEY’S OFFICE’S PETITION TO DETAIN MAN ACCUSED OF MURDERING HIS WIFE

McHenry County State’s Attorney Randi Freese announced today that the Honorable Judge Cynthia Lamb granted the State’s motion to deny pretrial release for Silvano Perri, 75, of Itasca, Illinois.

Perri appeared in Initial Appearance Court on December 17 and 18, 2025, charged with First Degree Murder.

After Perri obtained a one-day continuance for his detention hearing, he stipulated to all the allegations in the State’s petition and agreed to his detention at this time.

State’s Attorney Freese sends her deepest condolences to those most deeply impacted by this horrific event.

Freese commends the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office for their thorough investigation of this tragedy. Criminal Division Deputy Chief Brian Miller assisted law enforcement with the investigation. Chief of Staff Ashley Romito represented the State in Initial Appearance Court.

Perri’s next court appearance is scheduled for December 23, 2025.

Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
