Sad day in Illinois as Governor signs physician assisted suicide bill

Springfield, IL – With the stroke of Gov. Pritzker’s pen, the culture of death has been codified into law as Illinois becomes the 12th state to legalize physician assisted suicide, according to the Illinois Freedom Caucus.

The Governor today signed Senate Bill 1950 into law.

The legislation allows patients deemed to have a qualifying terminal illness to commit suicide under a doctor’s supervision.

Next law will allow those just wanting to die legal with a doctor’s help.

The Illinois Freedom Caucus is issuing the following statement:

“Today is a very dark day for the State of Illinois. We have opened Pandora’s Box. Just like at Canada. The number of diseases and conditions leading to suicide is only going to increase and just like in Canada, physician assisted suicide will inevitably become one of the leading causes of death in Illinois.

Life is precious and a gift from God. A sane and sober society is one that cherishes life – not rushes to destroy it. The Declaration of Independence states, ‘We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are LIFE, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.’ How far we have come from the wisdom of our founding fathers. We have a right to life in our country, but sadly the secular left is more fixated on death than they are on life. Life and liberty go hand in hand.
