From McHenry County:
Manufacturing internship program seeking more employers

Manufacturing Summer Internship Program is looking for more participating manufacturers to meet the demand to help forge the next generation of skilled county workers.
The program had more than 200 applicants last year, but was only able to place 80 students – and it’s put out the call to get more local manufacturers involved.
Participating students receive paid, 10-week summer internships with host companies. In the four years since the program’s creation, it has provided 361 opportunities for McHenry County high school students to gain valuable workplace skills and learn about the opportunities that manufacturing careers offer.
And a number of them were signed on as full-time employees after graduation!
The internship, administered through the McHenry County Manufacturing Pathways Consortium and McHenry County College, was one of the first programs to be funded through Advance McHenry County, which allocated federal COVID-19 funding directly into thoughtful and impactful programs to improve our communities.
