Christmas & New Year’s Safe Ride
Keeping Illinois Roads Safe this Holiday

Schaumburg, IL, December 15, 2025 – Illinois faces heightened traffic crashes and fatalities during holidays, primarily due to alcohol, speeding and drug-impaired driving, including cannabis use.

With increased travel in 2025, risks from distracted, drunk, and drug-affected drivers, along with hazardous weather conditions, escalate.

Holidays like Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s see a spike in crashes, emphasizing the need for sober driving, cautious planning, and awareness of the dangers posed by substance use while driving.

In response, AAIM is proud to partner with Lyft, the Governors Highway Safety Association, and the Illinois Department of Transportation, to launch the Christmas & New Year’s Safe Ride.

From December 15 until December 31, 11:59 PM, AAIM will provide a $20.00 Lyft credit, sponsored by
Lyft, through a “Lyft Pass” program.

“This holiday season let’s protect our loved ones by prioritizing road safety. Impaired and reckless driving can shatter lives, so let’s all commit to responsible driving to ensure everyone makes it home safely.

The well-being of our families and friends is the most precious gift we can share during this special time of year,” said Rita Kreslin, AAIM Executive Director.

How to Redeem:

  • Open your Lyft App starting at 12:00 pm on December 15
  • Tap your profile → “Programs” → “Rewards”
  • Enter AIMSOBER25 before booking your ride
