When a legislator doesn’t want to be held accountable for a given vote, “they take a walk.”

That’s what it’s called in Springfield.

In the Illinois House, members would all of a sudden have to go to the bathroom, returning after the vote had been recorded.

Illinois Review has written an article complete with roll call showing all other Republican State Senators voting against the bill.

“Multiple lawmakers, staffers, and lobbyists share the same story: as debate closed on House Bill 1312 – the Safety and Liberation Together (SALT) Act – Hills abruptly left the Senate chamber. Witnesses say she ducked into the bathroom. Others say she fled down the hallway. But the outcome is undeniable: when the vote was called, she was gone.”
