Now Accepting Applications for Court Security Officer

The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for full-time and per diem Court Security Officer positions.

Court Security Officers are sworn members of the Sheriff’s Office who provide safety and security for the 22nd Judicial Circuit by staffing secured entrances, monitoring courthouse activity, and supporting operations across 18 courtrooms at the McHenry County Courthouse.

Pay Rates:
 Full-time: $25.17/hour ($52,353.60/year)
 Per diem: $24.44/hour

Full-time positions include paid holidays, paid vacation time, and medical insurance options.

For IMRF purposes, per diem positions are non-qualifying and must remain under the annual
hour thresholds.

Applicants not receiving IMRF retirement benefits must remain under 1,000 hours/year.

Applicants currently receiving IMRF benefits (such as a pension) must remain under 660 hours/year.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be an Illinois Certified Law Enforcement Officer, certified within the past 3 years
  • Must be 21 years of age
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Ability to pass a background check and medical screening

Retired law enforcement officers are strongly encouraged to apply.
