Chimney Fire
On November 24, 2025, at approximately 7:33 p.m., the McHenry Township Fire Protection District (MTFPD) responded to a reported structure fire in the 3000 block of Mourine Lane in McHenry.

Crews arrived within four minutes and found smoke coming from the attic of a single-story family home.
The occupants and two dogs safely evacuated after calling 9-1-1.
The fire was brought under control in ten minutes, and a search of the residence confirmed that no other occupants were inside.
The fire caused damage to the wooden trusses surrounding the chimney flue, in addition to water damage from the extinguishment efforts.
No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.
The fire is currently under investigation by the MTFPD, and we would like to remind residents to exercise caution when using wood-burning fireplaces and always ensure fires are completely extinguished before retiring for the evening.
