From the From the Rural Fire Protection District Collect for Crystal Lake Food Pantry:
Partnership With Prairie Grove CSD 46 Collects Nearly 4000 Items for Food Pantry
The Nunda Rural Fire Protection District is proud to announce the extraordinary results of a month-long community donation drive benefiting the Crystal Lake Food Pantry.
In partnership with Prairie Grove CSD 46, students, families, staff, and local residents contributed an overwhelming amount of support for neighbors facing food insecurity.
On Friday, November 21, crews visited Prairie Grove CSD 46 to collect the final donations.
With the help of school staff and student council members, two ambulances were nearly filled to capacity.
The effort represented a true communitywide collaboration, with donations collected both at the school and at the fire station throughout the month.
Once the donations were brought back to the fire station and fully unloaded and sorted, the scope of generosity became clear. Nearly four full pallets of food and household essentials were prepared for delivery to the Crystal Lake Food Pantry.
In total, the combined contributions from the school and the fire station amounted to nearly four thousand items, making this one of the most successful drives the District has ever supported.
Nunda Rural FF/PM Brittany Schirmbeck, who spearheaded the project, expressed deep appreciation for the overwhelming turnout. “As someone who has served in the fire and EMS field for many years, helping people has always been at the forefront of my mind. This project offered a different but equally meaningful way to support our community during times of need, and I am truly humbled and extremely grateful for the response from our community. The generosity from the students, families, and residents went far beyond anything we imagined when we started this project. Seeing everyone come together for a common purpose is something I will never forget.”
The Nunda Rural Fire Protection District extends its heartfelt thanks to Prairie Grove CSD 46 for its partnership and to every family and resident who contributed. This collective success will directly support local households who rely on the Crystal Lake Food Pantry, especially during the winter months when the need often increases.
