From the Huntley Fire Protection District:

On Thursday, November 20, 2025, the Huntley Fire Protection District responded to two separate serious crashes on Interstate 90 in the eastbound lanes, one at mile marker 48 and the other at mile marker 47.
The first crash was dispatched at 5:18 p.m. to mile marker 48. While responding, crews observed a secondary crash roughly one mile east and diverted additional incoming units, arriving within two minutes.
Two patients were involved in the original crash.
An adult male was transported to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin in serious condition and a second patient declined additional medical treatment.
One lane of traffic was closed for nearly an hour while emergency crews operated at the scene.
The second crash was dispatched at 5:21 p.m. at mile marker 47.
Firefighters arrived within minutes and located a heavily damaged vehicle in the middle lane with the adult male driver trapped inside.
A medical helicopter was requested but unavailable due to weather conditions.
Firefighters worked for approximately 35 minutes to free the patient before he was transported to Advocate Sherman Hospital in Elgin with life threatening injuries.
Information at the scene indicated that a second vehicle, possibly a semi-truck, may have been involved.
However, firefighters did not locate or make contact with any additional occupants.
Both crashes are under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
Any questions regarding the cause of either crash, vehicle speeds, contributing factors, or seat belt use should be directed to their office.
The Huntley Fire Protection District would like to thank the Illinois Tollway Authority HELP trucks, an off duty Sleepy Hollow Police Officer, and the Illinois State Police for their assistance.
We also appreciate the Hampshire Fire Protection District for covering additional incidents in our District during this time.
