From John Lopez:
From Cody Holt for state Senate campaign Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/share/p/1CnUhJX1gP/):
For fifteen years, my entire adult life, I have fought for the conservative cause in Illinois. I have never hidden behind anyone.
When I filed objections in the past, they were against Democrats and I always put my own name on them because accountability matters.
What is happening now is the total opposite.
The Illinois GOP establishment and its insiders are trying to knock me off the ballot because they fear real change.
[Republican state Senate candidates] Jessica Breugelmans and Danielle Penman know they cannot beat me in a primary, so they let others do their dirty work.
Danielle is hiding behind Max Gordon and Ken Shepro, a failed establishment chairman I helped remove from the County Board when a conservative challenger beat him.
Jessica is hiding behind State Senator Don DeWitte, who is not seeking reelection, and a former St. Charles alderwoman acting as his proxy.
Their objection was notarized by Mike Delazzer, yet another Rauner era staffer who is still employed by Senate Republian staff.
This is the same tired Rauner era strategy that has failed our suburbs for years.
They keep pushing their formula candidate.
A boring, milquetoast Republican with Democrat light positions.
Usually a semi-attractive middle aged suburban white woman who stands for nothing except recycled talking points that keep the establishment comfortable and the base ignored.
Their entire case against me comes down to signatures.
A technicality.
We filed over the 1,000 necessary and if they manage to strike enough signatures and remove me from the ballot, then congratulations.
You did not win on ideas, record or qualifications.
You simply hid behind paperwork because you knew the conservative base would not rally behind Jessica and they would be skeptical of the union-backed lackey in Danielle.
No matter what happens, I am not going anywhere.
I will continue fighting for reform, standing up for Illinoisans who cannot afford the direction this state is heading and calling out the insiders who want our movement silenced.
I will also keep you informed every step of the way and document this entire process so voters can see exactly how the establishment operates when they feel threatened.
This campaign is not backing down. Our movement is not backing down. And Republicans will see the truth.
John Lopez replies:
If this objection to your petition is upheld, Senate District 33 will be lost.
As I said on both Smoke-Filled Room and Make Illinois Great Again podcasts in past 2 weeks, presumptive Democratic nominee Michele Clark will be very tough to beat in a general election especially if Jessica Breugelmans is the nominee.
Breugelmans lives in the exclusive Mill Creek subdivision of unincorporated Geneva.
Clark lives in the Gaslight (appropriate given Dems) West subdivision of Algonquin in Kane County.
A resident of Mill Creek vs a resident of the McHenry County community of Algonquin is a north vs south ends of district match-up Republicans may not win.
Only your Elgin-based roots & previous service on the school board can counter Clark’s campaign which has the support of the Democratic establishment.
