From the McHenry Township Fire Protection District:

Structure Fire

On November 16, 2025, at approximately 7:50 a.m., the McHenry Township Fire Protection District (MTFPD) responded to a reported structure fire in the 4000 block of N. Hillcrest Place in Johnsburg.

While en route, the call was upgraded to a Working Fire response based on additional caller information, bringing in additional personnel.

Crews arrived in under five minutes and found active fire at the rear of the home, which was extending into its interior.

All occupants had safely exited prior to our arrival.

Firefighters brought the incident under control within forty minutes.

A primary and secondary search confirmed no one remained inside.

The fire caused significant damage to both the exterior and interior of the home, with smoke and water damage throughout.

One civilian was evaluated for a minor injury on scene but was not transported.

The home is deemed unhabitable.

A MABAS (Mutual Aid Box Alarm System) Box Alarm was
requested for fire investigators, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

MTFPD received assistance from the Antioch, Cary, Crystal Lake, Fox Lake, Nunda, Richmond, Round Lake, Spring Grove, Wauconda, Wonder Lake, and Woodstock fire departments, who provided on-scene support or station coverage.
