It was guilt by association, but negative for Crystal Lakers anyway.
Although ABC got it wrong when it reported Nick Kachiroubas was still Crystal Lake City Clerk and still on the Illinois Community College Board, the implication that local voters elected a man who plead guilty of child pornography and grooming certainly is not a positive for the city.
Kachiroubas was elected Student Trustee at McHenry County College, then elected by voters to the College Board. He ran unopposed.
Running for reelection with opposition, he lost.
Later he ran unopposed for Crystal Lake City Clerk and was reelected several times.
After his arrest, the City Council replaced the election with appointment.
Sentencing is set for November 20th.
