From McHenry County:

Miller Road at Randall Road to Reopen Temporarily in Early December

WOODSTOCK, IL – The McHenry County Division of Transportation (MCDOT) is pleased to announce that work on the Miller Road Bridge and Randall Road intersection is at a place that gives us an opportunity to help the travelling public during the busy December holiday season.

The intersection will look pretty much the same as before construction started.

The project team will take advantage of a break in the project to temporarily lift the detour and reopen Miller Road at Randall Road in early December, pending weather.

When the road reopens, the intersection will allow turning movements in all directions and through traffic across Randall Road, easing travel for residents, visitors and holiday shoppers.

“We are excited to reopen this intersection for the winter months,” said Darrell Kuntz, Assistant County Engineer of the MCDOT.

“Our team has worked hard to reach this milestone, and we’re happy to give drivers access back before the December holidays.”

While the MCDOT is happy to have gotten to this point in the project, the project is not yet complete.

In the spring, the Miller Road detour will resume for approximately two months.

This planned closure is necessary to allow for the removal of the existing box culvert under Miller and
Randall Roads and the construction of new pavement at the intersection.

Due to ongoing construction activity, pedestrian and bicycle travel through the area will remain closed for this phase.

McHenry County will provide updates on the timing of the Miller Road opening in the coming weeks.
