Algonquin Structure Fire
Algonquin, IL… Early Sunday morning, October 3, 2025, firefighters from the Algonquin–Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District responded to a blaze that heavily damaged a two-story home in the 11000 block of Mohican Drive.

Crews were dispatched around 5:30 a.m. after reports of a fire in a single-family residence that had been divided into two apartments.
When firefighters arrived, they found heavy flames coming from the second floor and the right side of the structure.

All occupants had safely evacuated before crews arrived.
Firefighters launched an aggressive attack to contain the fire, which had communicated through hidden void spaces within the home. The alarm was quickly upgraded to a box alarm level, bringing in additional personnel and resources from neighboring departments. The fire was brought under control within 20 minutes.
Mutual aid was provided by the Cary Fire Protection District, Carpentersville Fire Department, Huntley Fire Protection District, Crystal Lake Fire-Rescue Department, Barrington-Countryside Fire Protection District, Elgin Fire Department, Fox River Grove Fire Protection District, Barrington Fire Department, Palatine Fire Department, and SEECOM Dispatch Center.
No injuries were reported. The home and its apartments were deemed uninhabitable, with damages estimated at approximately $250,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
