Jessica Breugelmans Files Nominating Petitions in Run for Illinois 33rd District
GENEVA, IL – Jessica Breugelmans (R-Geneva), a philanthropist, educator, and unapologetic voice for parents and taxpayers, officially filed her nominating petitions on Monday for Illinois’ 33rd Senate District.
She submitted more than twice the required number of signatures to secure her place on the 2026 Republican primary ballot.
“I’m running because Illinois families are getting crushed,” said Breugelmans.
“While they stretch every dollar to afford groceries, electric bills, and school supplies, politicians in Springfield keep demanding more.
“More taxes, more spending, and bigger government.
“And they expect working families to foot the bill. I’m running to put a stop to it.”
A mom, small businesswoman, and fierce advocate for working families, Breugelmans launched her campaign to bring common sense and accountability back to Springfield.
This week alone Illinois families are facing as much as $1.5 billion in new taxes pushed by Governor Pritzker’s allies in Springfield during the fall veto session to bail out Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson and the CTA.
The plan would take more money from working families across the state to prop up Chicago’s broken transit system instead of demanding accountability and reform.
“These new taxes are nothing more than a bailout for Brandon Johnson and his political allies,” Breugelmans said.
“Families are already stretched thin, and now Springfield wants them to pay for Chicago’s mismanagement.
“I will fight every single one of these tax hikes because they punish working families and reward failure.”
The daughter of a South Elgin manufacturing business owner, Breugelmans credits her upbringing with shaping her work ethic and values.
“I am not part of the political class,” she said.
“I am a mom, wife, educator and small business owner who has had enough of watching Springfield sell out our communities.
“It is time for a fighter who lives in the real world.”
