Sheriff’s Office Investigates Hit-and-Run Crash near Huntley

An 18-year-old Marengo man was seriously injured after he was struck by a vehicle in the 14900 block of Harmony Road, west of Briar Hill Road near Huntley.

On Saturday, October 18, 2025, at approximately 6:44 p.m., the McHenry County Sheriff’s OfficeHuntley Police Departmentand Huntley Fire Protection District responded to a report of a vehicle versus pedestrian crash in the 14900 block of Harmony Road, west of Briar Hill Road, in unincorporated McHenry County.

Preliminary investigation indicates that an 18-year-old male from Marengo was riding a skateboard westbound along or near the white edge line of the eastbound lane of travel when he was struck by a dark-colored SUV.

The vehicle fled the scene after the collision.

The victim was airlifted to Javon Bea Hospital – Riverside in Rockford, where he was listed in serious but stable condition.

Further investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit identified the suspect vehicle as a 2019 Toyota Highlander.

This development led to the arrest of a 35-year-old Marengo man in connection with the crash.

The incident remains under investigation by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Crash Investigation Unit.

  • Failure Report Accident Involving Personal Injury, Class 2 Felony.
  • Leave the Scene of accident Resulting in personal injury, Class 4 Felony
  • Failure to provide aid, Class A Misdemeanor
