From Republican U.S. Senate candidate Don Tracy:
Don Tracy Denounces House Democrats’ Gerrymandering Scheme Targeting Rep. Darin LaHood
SPRINGFIELD – With less than two weeks until the candidate filing deadline, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and Washington Democrats are pushing a mid-decade redraw of Illinois’ already gerrymandered Congressional map, targeting Rep. Darin LaHood for removal by stretching Chicago districts to dilute Republican voices even further in Illinois and undermine fair representation.
Don Tracy responded to the obvious power grab this afternoon:
“House Democrats’ cynical push to gerrymander Illinois’ congressional map even more than it already is is pure political opportunism. How do my opponents, Reps. Raja Krishnamoothi and Robin Kelly and Lt. Governor Juliana Stratton, feel about the Minority Leader’s partisan ploy?” asked Tracy. “With just two weeks until the filing deadline, this rushed power grab undermines fair representation and voter trust.

Darin LaHood’s current gerrymandered district.
“The hypocrisy is glaring. Governor JB Pritzker was extremely critical of Texas’ redistricting. Yet he’s silent as his own party attempts to manipulate Illinois’ map to entrench power. Illinoisans deserve leaders who prioritize fair, transparent redistricting that respects communities, not partisan gamesmanship that silences voters. I call on Springfield to reject this shameful maneuver and Governor Pritzker to uphold the integrity he demanded of others.”
