Pritzker / Stratton Betrayed Illinoisans By Spending More on Non-Citizen Healthcare than Roads, Foster Care, Seniors

SPRINGFIELD –  A new report surfaced this week highlighting how this past fiscal year Governor JB Pritzker and Lieutenant Governor Juliana Stratton prioritized hundreds of millions of dollars in taxpayer-funded healthcare for non-citizens over essential services for Illinois families, including infrastructure, foster care, and care for the elderly.

According to an analysis by the Washington Examiner, Illinois allocated $629 million in its FY2025 budget for free healthcare for non-citizens, which is more than the combined total spent on the state’s road repair fund, home-delivered meals for seniors, expanding foster homes, and arts programs.

Working families are being crushed by inflation, our roads and infrastructure are falling apart, and vulnerable kids and seniors are waiting for help.

Yet JB Pritzker and Juliana Stratton are spending hundreds of millions of dollars on free healthcare for non-citizens. That’s a betrayal of the people they were elected to serve,” said Tracy.

“Illinois taxpayers deserve leaders who put them first, not last. In Washington, I’ll fight to end reckless spending to ensure government is serving the hardworking families, foster children, seniors, and taxpayers across this state. It’s time our elected leaders focused on Illinois families who are struggling.

I’m running to lower the cost-of-living for working families.”
