Sunday after noon was a beautiful day for a parade.
And, exceeding my expectations were the number of bands from as far away as Evergreen Park and Evanston.
Another article will tell of the bands.
This one is about the politicians.
First in line were the Republicans.
Out front was Chris Yaeger, candidate for 11th congressional district State Central Committeeman, waving a Hendricks for Governor sign.

Next came a truck pulling a trailer with a big elephant.

Walking behind the trailer State Senator Dave Syverson.
He didn’t have his name on his shirt, so only those who knew what he looks like could identify him.

I failed to catch a better photo.

Walking the south side of the street was Marengo Park District President Marty Mohr, who is running for the Republican nomination for County Board against incumbent Larry Smith.

Driving one of the antique tractors was a man wearing a Marty Mohr tee shirt.
Libertarians came next.

A truck carried some more member with a man walking along side it.

A Libertarian behind the truck wore a shirt containing the only reference in the parade of former House Speaker Mike Madigan’s reporting to jail Monday.

Next came the Democrats.

Behind the “VOTE” truck were people carrying signs.
Peter Janko is again running for State Representative against Republican Joe Sosnowski and newcomer Christie Stevens is running for County Board against either incumbent Larry Smith or challenger Marty Mohr.

At the end of the Democrats’ contingent was this banner.

Two candidates trying to get on the ballot to unseat long-time Democrat Bill Foster had separate entries in the parade.
First was Republican Charlie Kim.

Unfortunately, try as I did, I failed to get a photo of him.

Maybe he was driving the truck.
A second Republican who wishes to challenge Foster is Tedora Brown.

After asking a couple of people walking in her contingent, I was pointed to the back of the pickup truck.

I had not heard of her candidacy, so I looked it up.
She is a convert from the Democratic Party about a decade ago and explains why here.
