Bicyclist Critically Injured in Collision on Silver Lake Road
On Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at 5:45 p.m., the Cary Fire Protection District responded to the 6500 block of Silver Lake Road in unincorporated McHenry County for a reported vehicle crash.
Paramedics arrived and located an adult male bicyclist lying in the roadway following a collision with a small sedan.
The patient had sustained critical injuries, and life-saving measures were immediately initiated at the scene.
A medical helicopter was requested and landed at the helipad at Mercyhealth Hospital in Crystal Lake.
The patient was then airlifted to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for further treatment.
The driver of the sedan was not injured in the crash.
Silver Lake Road remained closed in both directions for the duration of the incident to allow emergency personnel to work safely and to accommodate the law enforcement investigation.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is conducting the investigation, and any additional questions regarding the crash, including cause or fault, should be directed to their office.
