From the Coroner:
McHenry County Coroner, Dr. Michael Rein, announced that his office was contacted on October 7, 2025 at around 1:00 am by Harvard Police Department to investigate the deaths of Rachel Dumovich, age 29 and Brandon Dumovich, age 30, both of Sharon Wisconsin.
Both were pronounced deceased at the scene in a vehicle at the corner of N. Division and Burbank St. in Harvard.
An autopsy will be performed on both decedents on October 9, 2025.
The Coroner’s Office is continuing to work collaboratively with Harvard Police Department and McHenry County Major Investigative Assistance Team (MIAT).

Update from the Harvard Police:
On Monday, October 6, 2025, at approximately 11:52 p.m., an officer of the Harvard Police Department observed a parked vehicle in the 700 block of North Division Street (Route 14) with its hazard lights activated in the northbound lane.
Upon approaching to investigate the apparent motorist assist, the officer discovered a female driver (29 years old) and a male passenger (30 years old) deceased inside the vehicle.
Both individuals were residents of Sharon, Wisconsin.
The McHenry County Major Investigative Assistance Team (MIAT) was activated to investigate the incident. Preliminary investigation indicates the male and female each sustained a gunshot wound.
A firearm was recovered inside the vehicle.
An initial alert was issued to residents advising of a heavy police presence in the area and to remain sheltered in place.
It was later determined there was no ongoing threat to the community, and a second alert was sent advising residents to avoid the area of Route 14 between McKinley Street and Blackman Street due to road closures.
At approximately 7:30 a.m., the roadway was reopened, and a final alert was issued indicating the police activity had concluded.

North Division Street is currently closed between Diggins Street (Route 173) and McKinley Street.
