Elected in 1986 to the Illinois House to replace Jill Zwick, East Dundee’s DeLoris Doederlein served six years.
Today is her 100th birthday.
Yesterday at the West Dundee VFW Post, there was a glorious celebration of her life.
Not that there was a lot of public speaking.

DeLoris Doederlein before her brief speech.
Doederlein’s best line was “See you next year.”
And, considering she passed her driver’s test while ninety-nine, better mark your calendar.

There was a large turnout from her church friends and political acquaintances.
See the big television set at the front of the room.
There were lots of family photos.’
But there were also a number of political pictures.
Since this is a political blog, excuse me for sharing them with you.
Let’s start with one of her with Governor Richard B. Ogilvie, who served as our Chief Executive from 1969-1973:

Richard Ogilvie, Cook County Sheriff, ran promising a “clean sweep.”
Here is one of DeLoris and Jim Thompson:

U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert attended an event with DeLoris:

Deloris met Jim Brady, who was shot in the assassination attempt on President Ronald Reagan.

This appears to be a GOP National Convention.

First Lady Nancy Reagan greets Republican women, including DeLoris Doederlein.
Doederlein attended many events with Congressman Phil Crane.

Phil Crane served in Congress for thirty-five years and ran for the GOP nomination for President in 1980.

Jack Kempf ran for the Republican nomination for President in 1996.
The third Illinois Governor DeLoris had her photo taken with.

In this photo George Ryan was Illinois House Speaker.
This was probably taken the year that Bob Dole ran for President.

I am looking forward to learning the story behind this photo of George and Barbara Bush.

In 1996, NRA President Charlton Heston was stumping for Republican candidates.
