From the Cary Fire Department:
Commercial Truck Rollover with Extrication in Unincorporated Cary
On Friday, September 26, 2025, at 10:41 a.m., the Cary Fire Protection District responded to the intersection of Cary Algonquin Road and Klasen Road in unincorporated Cary for a reported commercial truck rollover with the driver trapped inside.
Upon arrival, crews found a garbage truck that had traveled over an embankment and rolled over, causing heavy damage to the vehicle.

The adult male driver was entrapped in the cab and required extrication.

Firefighters freed the driver within 15 minutes of their arrival and transferred him to an awaiting ambulance.

A medical helicopter was initially requested to the scene; however, after further evaluation, the helicopter was returned.
The driver was transported by Cary Fire Protection District paramedics to Northwestern Medicine McHenry Hospital with moderate but non-life-threatening injuries.

The truck, which was fueled by natural gas and hauling residential garbage, sustained a leak in its fuel system that was believed to have been a result of the crash.
The leak was quickly mitigated by firefighters, and no additional hazards were an issue.
The roadway was closed in all directions until shortly before noon.

Because the vehicle came to rest well off the roadway, traffic was reopened prior to the removal of the truck.
Fire crews worked efficiently under challenging conditions to safely extricate the driver from a violent crash and coordinated closely with deputies from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office throughout the incident.
The Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash, and all questions regarding the cause, contributing factors, speed, or roadway conditions should be directed to their office.
