From Jake Justen:
The Crystal Lake city council approved $50,000 to install a sculpture at one of the roundabouts on Congress Parkway. It passed on a 5-1 vote, only Denise Smith voted against.
I don’t know which intersection it will be installed at.
The artist is Eric Blome, a CL resident with a studio in Woodstock.
A picture of the proposed installation is below.

It was approved at one of the May council meetings.
Ellen Brady Mueller spoke in favor of it (“We already decided that we were good with art at $50,000 for this spot.”);.
Cam Hubbard voiced concerns about the price and location (“It’s a lot of money for a project that’s going on – what I would consider – a back road in Crystal Lake.”), but voted in favor.
Mayor Haleblian said that the project is “a lot of money, but relatively speaking, I think this is a bargain.”
The comments on the Northwest Herald post about it seemed to be mostly negative: https://www.facebook.com/share/p/16vmY6zWR1/
