On the agenda of last night’s McHenry County Board meeting was a resolution hiking salaries for elected officials.

The next Sheriff will receive the same salary as the State’s Attorney, plus $10,000 in additional stipends.

The Count Clerk and Recorder will receive $154,000, plus $6,500 from State funds, as will the County Treasurer.

Starting in 2029, the County Board Chairman will be paid $104,300 a year.

The same year the Auditor will start receiving the same salary as the Treasurer, as will the Coroner and Circuit Clerk.

, Those starting in 2029 will get a 3% annual salary bump or the CPI increase, whichever is less.

Several of the elected officials are not in the Illinois Municipal Retirement (Pension) Fund.

A benefit being added is an $8,000 per year match to other retirement funds.
