Residential Burglary/Motor Vehicle Theft Investigation

Algonquin, IL – September 12, 2025 – On September 11, 2025 at approximately 7:50 am, members of the Algonquin Police Department responded to a home in the 100 block of Hayes Road for a report of a Residential Burglary and Motor Vehicle Theft.

Responding Officers learned that the resident had been awoken by a male, who had entered the home through an unlocked sliding door, rummaged through cabinets and drawers and removed a set of car keys from the kitchen table.

The resident subsequently discovered that the fleeing offender had used the keys to steal his 2013 Ford F-150.

During this time, a second report of Criminal Damage to Property in the 1200 Block of Fox River Drive was reported and is believed to have been caused by an attempt to force entry into the residence.

As of this time, it is unknown if the two incidents are related.

At approximately 10:30 am the McHenry County Sheriff’s Department was dispatched to the 12000 block of Kingston Place in unincorporated Algonquin, for a report of a Theft of items from a backyard.

The male offender from that incident fled the scene and was pursued by neighbors to the area of Gaslight Drive and Springhill Drive.

Members of the Algonquin Police Department and McHenry County Sheriff’s Department responded to the area, locating the Ford F-150 stolen from the residence on Hayes Road parked nearby.

During a search of the area, a 25-year-old male subject from Elgin was discovered laying in bushes behind a residence in the 1200 block of Springhill Drive.

The male was found to be going in and out of consciousness and appeared to be suffering from an unknown medical emergency.

He was transported to Northwestern Hospital in Huntley for medical treatment, where he remains at
this time.

No charges have been filed against the male at this time.

The investigation into this incident is ongoing. Updates will be provided as additional information becomes available.
