From the Huntley Fire Protection District:
Structure fire 511 Tenby Way, Algonquin
On September 8, 2025, at 6:45 p.m., the Huntley Fire Protection District was dispatched to 511 Tenby Way, Algonquin, IL 60102 for a garbage can on fire.
The call was quickly upgraded to a structure fire prior to arrival.
Firefighters arrived on the scene four minutes later and observed smoke and fire coming from the rear of an attached garage of a two-story residence.
Firefighters quickly deployed a hose line and extinguished the fire before it could extend into the living area.
The damage was primarily confined to the back wall of the garage. The house remains habitable.
There was one adult at home at the time of the fire, and they were assisted out of the home by Fire and police crews.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported. Crews remained on the scene for approximately 90 minutes, cleaning up and completing preliminary investigations.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Huntley Fire Protection District.
Assistance was received from Algonquin, Crystal Lake, Pingree Grove, and Marengo.
